Welcome to my kitchen!

You’ll find a lot of love here, because I love to cook, I love to eat, and I love to feed my family the foods that bring them health and joy. There is room for both in my kitchen.

I have been cooking at home for my whole life. As a young adult on my own, I ate a lot of meals from boxes, bags, and cans, and relied on the things I learned to cook from my mother, but I was always curious to see what more I could learn.

Lots of people I loved along the way cooked for me, and showed me the power cooking could have in my life. Finally, when my husband and I started our own family, I wanted to cook meals for them that looked good, tasted good, and kept them healthy and happy.

At the end of the day, that’s why home cooking matters to me.

Which brings me to food insecurity. The last few years have left an extraordinary number of people on the edge of poverty and hunger, and overwhelmed the systems in place that help those people. This is unacceptable. I want to be a part of the conversation and help find a solution. Home cooking is part of that solution. But there are a lot of questions to answer to make cooking at home accessible and affordable to everyone.

(All subscribers get full access to the newsletter and website. You’ll never miss an update. At some point, I would love to offer paid subscriptions as a way to raise money for organizations that work to end hunger. For now, all subscriptions are free. :) Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox.)

Let’s start a conversation.

You and I both know the best conversations happen in the kitchen. I’d love to start a conversation about home cooking: ingredients, tools, and skills; becoming a more confident cook; food insecurity and home cooks; and the cookbooks that stand the test of time in home kitchens.

From America’s Test Kitchen and Alton Brown, to Joy of Cooking and Julia Child, I have learned to cook by cooking, in my own home kitchen. I’m still learning, and I’d love to share my journey with you. Be part of this community and add your wisdom to the conversation!
